30A guide · with dogs

30A with your dog: what to actually expect.

Barefoot Bliss is pet-friendly because we are pet people. Here's what we know about traveling 30A with a dog — the rules, the welcoming patios, and the dog-friendly stretches of beach.

Beach rules: read this first

Walton County (which includes all of 30A — Inlet Beach to Dune Allen) allows dogs on the beach with restrictions that change by season. Briefly:

  • Dogs must be leashed at all times on Walton County beaches.
  • From April through October, dogs are allowed before 8am and after 5pm. Outside those hours: not permitted.
  • From November through March, dogs are allowed any time of day, still leashed.
  • You must clean up after your dog. Walton County actively fines for this. The fine isn't small.

Rules can change year to year — confirm at the county sheriff's site before you arrive, or just ask us.

Dog-friendly patios

Sit-with-your-dog dinner

  • The Bay (Santa Rosa Beach) — Dock seating welcomes dogs. Sunset views, casual food, very pet-tolerant staff.
  • Hibiscus Coffee & Guesthouse (Grayton Beach) — The garden patio is dog-friendly and shaded. Solid breakfast and lunch.
  • Café Tango (Seagrove) — Patio dogs welcome. Walking distance from Barefoot Bliss.
  • The Perfect Pig (Seagrove) — Outdoor patio welcomes well-behaved dogs.

Coffee & quick stops

  • Amavida Coffee (Rosemary Beach) — Outdoor seating, water bowls usually out.
  • Black Bear Bread Co. (Grayton) — Sidewalk seating, dogs okay.

Trails & outdoor space

Beyond the beach, two great places for walks with dogs:

  • Point Washington State Forest — Several leashed-dog trails just inland from 30A. Cooler and shadier than the beach. Great morning option.
  • Eden Gardens State Park — Dogs allowed on leash throughout the grounds. Easy paved paths, picnic spots, historic plantation.
  • The Timpoochee Trail — Dogs welcome on the paved bike path. Bring water; concrete gets hot in summer.

What we provide at Barefoot Bliss

  • Dogs allowed with prior approval — please mention them when you book
  • Yard is fenced (verify current state when you arrive — we'll note any exceptions in your VRBO confirmation)
  • Outdoor shower for sandy dog rinses
  • Towels available for dog use (we mark a set so they don't go in the bath rotation)

Please bring your own crate, food bowls, and bedding. We don't keep dog-specific supplies on hand.

Veterinary & emergency

The closest 24-hour emergency vet is in Destin. For routine needs, Beachside Animal Clinic in Santa Rosa Beach is well-regarded and takes drop-ins. Save both numbers in your phone before you arrive.

Real talk: the off-season — November through March — is the best time to bring a dog to 30A. All-day beach access, fewer crowds, and the weather is genuinely pleasant. It's our favorite time at the house, with or without a dog.
